One of the standout dishes that has garnered rave reviews is the lobster roll. Patrons have claimed it to be one of the best they've ever tasted, served on a buttery brioche bun that perfectly complements the succulent lobster meat. As Pamela Williams noted, opting for butter instead of mayo elevates this classic to pure bliss. Additionally, the fried clams are a highlight, featuring medium bellies packed with flavor, and their clam chowder has received high accolades for its savory depth.
For those looking to indulge a bit more, the Captain’s Combo offers a delightful assortment of seafood, including whole clams, scallops, shrimp, and haddock, all for an accessible price. S M highlights the generous portions – perfect for sharing or for those with robust appetites. The fisherman’s platter here is celebrated for its value, making Clam Shack a top choice for seafood lovers.
Aside from seafood, the menu also caters to non-seafood enthusiasts with options like chicken kabobs, burgers, and hot dogs, ensuring there’s something for everyone. Each dish is crafted with care, and with quick service, you can savor your meal without a lengthy wait. As TodayIsOurAdventure pointed out, the efficiency and appetizing portions make for a delightful experience.

“ Great spot by the water with excellent food and friendly staff. Awesome seafood, especially the chowder. Great outdoor patio with a beautiful view ”
“ What a great little place by the water! The lobster rolls were actually the best one I've ever had! I got it on a brioche bun with the butter instead of mayo. Fried clams and clam chowder was delicious and even the french fries were really great and nice and hot! Coleslaw was excellent as well! Highly recommend this place! ”
“ They offer very good food for the price. Just about the cheapest spot to get a fisherman's platter. The portion is large enough to share unless you have a truly veracious appetite. Note that scallops are halved so this is not the best place to go if those are your favorite. Shrimp were tender, clams had medium bellies and good flavor, haddock was very tasty but like the scallops, there are better spots for fried haddock. The lobster roll with mayo is excellent for a standard fry shack. Lots of places in the area have flavorless lobster, but this was a nice roll. Their tartar sauce is quite good. Clam Shack is truly unbearable for the value. I also very much appreciate that they're one of very few fry shack to offer their pricing online to check before you go. If you are looking for higher quality scallops and a drive is fine, I'd recommend Essex Seafood. They're a step up from here across the board, and also have a superior lobster roll. However, the price is higher, and I believe the lobster roll may be a bit larger at Clam Shack. Turners has excellent beer batter fish and chips if you wanted fried seafood of a different style. For a nice casual dinner and trying a bit of everything, I'd highly recommend Clam Shack. ”
“ Cute little seafood shack by the water. Food came out pretty quick. Gets busy so plan ahead. Good portions. Prices were good. Service was friendly. Lobster rolls and fries were AMAZING!!! Open air picnic tables by the water - so dinner with a view. Must visit! 10 out 10 recommend! ”
“ Excellent lobster roll and clam strips. Outside dining right on the bay. ”
“ Absolutely delicious food and amazing waterfront views. I haven’t had a good lobster roll in years, but the Clam Shack’s lobster roll was buttery heaven served on a perfectly sweet brioche bun All of the seafood my family ordered was fresh, great quality and beyond tasty. The portion sizes were great and all the food was affordable. Additionally, you can’t beat the breathtaking views of sunset on the water. There are great spots to walk around, take a seat and picnic all-around the area. Such a lovely spot, I highly recommend paying a visit! :) ”
“ Our church youth group of 22 visited The Clam Shack in Salem, MA, and it was an unforgettable experience. The staff worked so hard to make sure every single person was served, and they did it with a smile and incredible efficiency. We were so impressed by their hustle and hospitality! The food? Absolutely delicious. Fresh, classic New England seafood done right. Everyone in our group found something they loved, and the quality was top-notch. Add to that the golden light of an early summer evening, the salty breeze off the water, and the charm of The Salem Willows all around us. It was the recipe for a perfect evening. The setting felt like something out of a postcard, and The Clam Shack was right at the heart of it. Huge thanks to the team for their hard work and for helping us create such a memorable night. If you’re in Salem, don’t miss The Clam Shack: it’s the real deal! ”
“ I am visiting Salem for the first time and love eating at established local places when I travel. We had a hankering for some seafood and came across The Clam Shack. The food was great! Large portions, reasonably priced, and so fresh! But serious warning, beware of the seagulls. They mean business. They provided entertainment and an obstacle course. ”
